About
Me:
Hello,
my name is Michael Davis. I am a computer/network
technician as well as a motorcycle mechanic/tuner
by occupations and interests. I can, but
am certainly not limited to, setup or
repair Networks, PC's and laptop computers.
I can perform almost anything one might
need from simple Internet connection setup
up to turnkey web sites and custom designed
business scenarios.
Since 1992 I have been an accomplished
web designer, computer consultant and
computer repair technician. Prior to 1992
I was a motorcycle racer and mechanic
for fifteen plus years while working at
motorcycle dealerships.
I am based in Abilene,TX. and provide
mainly business computer services to the
area of Abilene TX., the home of Dyess
Air Force Base, and the surrounding area
of West Texas.
Computer:
The age of Internet accessible computer
controlled video security is upon us.
I base this on the interest I get and
the fact it is now more affordable and
efficient. It works well.
In business the data and downtime costs
in lost revenue easily outweigh a repair
bill.
I
need to emphasize that on-site computer
repair for ones personal PC is almost
always cost prohibitive unless you place
a much higher than average value on
your PC, your data and time.
I am often asked about data recovery.
First it's worth checking the possibility
that the data is intact and it just
needs to be extracted and used on another
machine. Data recovery from broken hard
drive is possible in many cases where
you can recover at least some if not
all the data. If the problem is the
hard drive itself, the drive needs to
be sent to a lab with the proper equipment.
It was also somewhat expensive last
time I looked. You simply have to weigh
the value of the data and downtime expenses
to the cost of the repair. Once again
on personal computers it's usually not
worth it especially if you can't do
most of the work yourself. Try to imagine
that you may lose everything that is
not backed up at any given moment. Data
storage is cheap and backup is easy.
Make a list of what you can't afford
to lose and Back It Up!
Motorcycles:
As
you can probably tell from the rest
of the site I am still very much a motorcycle
enthusiast and mechanic. I am a certified
Honda and Kawasaki mechanic. I also
worked at the local Harley Davidson
shop in the 1980's and I'm adept at
Harley mechanics as well. As well as
any standard maintenance or modifications
I currently provide performance modifications
and electrical cycle repair such as
remapping services of Dynojet Power
Commanders for metric/Japanese motorcycles
as well as the Harley Davidson "Race
Tuner" ECM add on modules.
With
the advent of fuel injection we no longer
re-jet our motorcycles we simply re-map
the fuel curve and in some instances the
ignition curve. You can obtain a substantial
increase in performance with minimal expense
by installing an aftermarket exhaust,
improved air intake, a Power Commander
or Race Tuner and remapping the fuel control
for the particular exhaust and intake
design. Compared to carburetion, fuel
injection control is much more precise
and gives you maximum power yield for
your buck.

CR500 Drag Bike Project
This
Bike is For Sale!
This was a lot of fun to build, and
ride, but the track here and the competition
has changed. I also prefer something
with an electric starter these days.
This bike is still super fun, upkeep
is virtually non existent as a drag
bike. Rock-Solid dependable and certain
to get everyone's attention as it is
quite possible you would be the only
one at many dragstrips with a 2-Stroke
engine.
I am selling the Bike with the Wheelie
Bar and the Tach Adapter. Asking $2,195.
The
bike is in the same condition as you
see here and in these pages, or better,
and very race ready. (It
does need a R.H. Radiator at this time,
but I should have another one on it
soon.)
The other parts, the electronics, I'm
selling individually. See
the individual Parts, Click Here,
Air-Clutch, Delay box, Air Bottle...
My Contact information is above. I
am not shipping the bike, it would need
to be picked up in Abilene, TX. The
individual parts for sale I will ship
to the U.S. and Canada (I apologize,
but this will be at my discretion due
to the aggressiveness of the scams)

Information:
The
motorcycle message board is gone. Mainly due to
lack of participation. It's unfortunate, since
I very much enjoy sharing my knowledge and while
trying to remain humble the fact is I noticed
while reading a new Cycle World magazine I was
still able to easily answer most all of the service
questions they found fit to publish. So even though
the bikes have certainly have changed over the
years, the repair and service of them remains
much the same. Feel free to email me if you find
yourself stuck after trying to repair your own
motorcycle and I will do my best to help.
Here is the Used
Motorcycle Buyers Guide I wrote for a friend
if you were looking for that which was previously
on forum. It is a good start but I could write volumes
more.
15
inch GM
wheel cross reference list. This is a short
list I created based primarily for pre-2000 Oldsmobiles

Here
is a really good, albeit older, manual I scanned
in the chapter on Small
Engine Electrical Systems. It was buried pretty
deep in this site and is worth a read if you want
to understand theory of operation. It seems to be
one of the overlooked areas of mechanics since it
is not required to test a part to see if it needs
to be replaced. It will help you diagnose many motorcycle
and automotive problems without needing the manual
for individual machines and should help with custom
applications, the reason I needed it, though.
